Who operates EZ News

EZ News is an EzBuyCo product available at eznews.ezbuyco.com. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].

Information we collect

• Account information: display name, email address, a salted password hash, account status, creation and last-login times, and hashed session tokens.
• Reader choices: selected topics, liked-story identifiers, followed companies, and saved weather locations.
• Email choices: email address, selected newsletter topics and weather areas, consent and confirmation status, and delivery records. Newsletter permission is separate from an EZ News account.
• Location: a city, ZIP Code Tabulation Area, county, coordinates entered by the reader, or device location shared after permission is granted. Location is used to request the relevant National Weather Service data. A location is attached to an account only when a signed-in reader explicitly saves it.
• Device and request information: ordinary HTTPS request information such as IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamps, and security or error events may be processed in server logs to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Information kept on your device

EZ News uses browser storage to remember the currently viewed weather location and Fahrenheit or Celsius preference. Authentication uses a secure, host-only HTTP-only cookie. The installable app keeps a small offline cache of public interface assets and an offline notice; it does not intentionally cache account API responses, private briefs, current forecasts, or alert data.

How information is used

Information is used to provide accounts and personalized feeds, build a requested daily brief, retrieve relevant official weather, deliver separately confirmed email updates, prevent abuse, keep sessions secure, diagnose failures, and meet legal obligations. EZ News does not sell personal information and does not use account emails, saved topics, likes, or follows to personalize sponsored-product placements.

Sources, service providers, and external pages

EZ News retrieves public information from the National Weather Service, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and other sources identified beside the relevant content. Pages may load fonts or source-cleared images from the hosts named by the page. Long-form pages may load a clearly labeled sponsored-product module from an EzBuyCo host. Selected guides may contain a labeled referral link; clicking it takes the reader to the named provider, which may associate the visit and qualifying signup with the referrer. Those providers may receive ordinary network information and apply their own privacy practices.

Sharing and disclosure

Information may be handled by infrastructure and email providers that operate the service on EzBuyCo’s behalf, subject to appropriate access controls. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect readers or the service, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization. EZ News does not provide account information to the government sources whose public records appear in the product.

Retention and security

Account information remains while an account is active and is deleted when the reader completes account deletion, except for limited records that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Newsletter records remain until deletion or as needed to preserve an unsubscribe request. Operational logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security and service operation. EZ News uses HTTPS, host-only secure cookies, password hashing, bounded inputs, request limits, and restricted server-side storage. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

• Use public news and weather pages without creating an account.
• Deny device location and search for a place manually.
• Change topics, likes, and follows from Account.
• Unsubscribe using the link in any email.
• Delete an account and associated reader data from Account, or use the public account deletion page if sign-in is unavailable.

Children

EZ News is a general-audience news product and is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied information can contact us for review and deletion.

Changes

Material changes will be posted here with a revised date. When a change requires a new choice or consent, EZ News will request it before applying that change.
