HARRISBURG - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Tyler Daugherty, age 32, of York County, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on September 29, 2026, to 78 months’ imprisonment by United States District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson for receiving child pornography. The court also ordered Daugherty to serve a five-year term of supervised release following his release from prison and required him to pay victims $9,000 in restitution.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Daugherty obtained child pornography by using the “Tor” browser to access the “dark” web and was discovered to be in possession of hundreds of images and videos of child pornography when the FBI searched his Mount Wolf home in 2025. When imposing the 78-month sentence, Judge Wilson highlighted that Daugherty had acquired child pornography over more than six years and that some of the images he possessed depicted the sexual abuse of toddlers. Judge Wilson also referred to victim impact statements that had been submitted prior to sentencing, which she noted attested to the lasting harms caused by those who possess and view child pornography. The FBI Philadelphia’s Capital Area Resident Agency investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Christian T. Haugsby prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
