Tallahassee, Pensacola, & Gainesville, Florida — The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida is proud to join the U.S. Department of Justice, the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), and communities across the country in observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) this October. This month, and every month, we will continue to use every available resource and building strategic partnerships with local law enforcement, fellow prosecutors, and victim service organizations to ensure justice, safety, and healing for victims. U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin said: “Domestic Violence Awareness Month is an opportunity for us to light the beacon of hope for victims of domestic violence to encourage those suffering in silence to come forward. My office is devoted to providing victims with the safety, dignity, and justice they deserve.
