KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City, Mo. man has pleaded guilty to a firearms violation. Edward L. Vann, 44, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the plea agreement, Vann was found in possession of two semi-automatic handguns while parked outside a business on Independence Avenue in Kansas City, Mo., during the evening of Nov. 2, 2025. Both firearms were loaded, and one contained a machinegun conversion device that rendered it capable of fully automatic fire.

Under federal statutes, Vann is subject to a sentence of up to 15 years in federal prison without parole. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys David Wagner and James Kirkpatrick. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.
