LITTLE ROCK—Angela M. Hoover will spend the next 24 months in federal prison after being convicted of wire fraud. Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, announced the sentence, which was handed down today by United States District Judge D. P. Marshall, Jr. On May 13, 2026, an Information was filed charging Hoover, 46, Benton, with one count of wire fraud. On the same day the Information was filed, Hoover pleaded guilty to the charge in the Information. Judge Marshall also sentenced Hoover to one year of supervised release and to pay restitution in the total amount of $540,599. There is no parole in the federal system. Hoover, who was a certified public accountant, was initially hired as the administrator of a medical clinic located in Central Arkansas. Hoover was eventually promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the clinic. In her role as CFO, Hoover had access to all the clinic’s bank accounts. An investigation revealed that on June 25, 2021, Hoover wired $1,288.83 from the clinic’s bank account to her personal account at another financial institution. A further investigation revealed that from November 7, 2020, through April 30, 2024, Hoover conducted approximately 136 wire transfers from the clinic’s bank accounts to pay for her personal credit card in the total amount of $271,041.42. Between June 2021 through June 2024, Hoover made approximately 166 wire transfers from the clinic’s bank accounts to her personal account totaling approximately $372,329. Hoover also paid herself $5,000 in an extra unauthorized bonus. The total loss to the clinic is $540,599. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
